Meeting Minutes
President Tom Pirmantgen
called the regular meeting of the New Bloomfield Area Civic Association
to
order at 7:00 p.m. at the Bank Star One Meeting Room.
A quorum was present.
Standing Committees
No report. Fred Case distributed a current list of 18 members.
Committee chairperson Fred Case reported that the committee had met and prepared a budget for the 2006 year. Copies of the proposed budget were distributed and Mr. Case reviewed each item. A motion was made by Art Rice, and seconded, to accept the budget as presented. Motion passed.
Committee member Leslie Wilson reported that a report of the December meeting was sent to the newspaper and that flyers announcing the January 19th meeting were posted in the usual locations.
Committee Chairperson Leslie Wilson reported that the Committee would be meeting January 23, 2006 to make final plans for the Home and Business Show scheduled for March 25, 2006. She presented a list of topics the committee would be discussing. A copy of the topics is attached to the original of these minutes.
Committee Chairperson Aaron Shaefer reported he had been gathering content for the web page. He passed out handouts of ideas and a rough draft design of the main site web page. A copy of the handout is attached to the original of these minutes. He asked the membership to send their ideas for the web page to the e-mail address ‘aaronshae2002@yahoo.com’. The website will be named‘http://nbcivic.missouri.org’.
Mr. Shaefer plans to rollout the web page to that site in a month. He has received permission from the Superintendent of the New Bloomfield School to link to the school website. He plans to present the website ideas to the city council and area churches hoping to link to those websites also. He asked that all pictures for the civic association be sent to his e-mail address. Future plans are to include New Bloomfield history to the website. He asked for a volunteer to prepare the town history. Pictures of Association officers and committee chairpersons will be taken at the February meeting to be posted on the web page.
Acting President Nancy West appointed Gracia Backer as Chairperson of the Program Committee. She also asked association members to sign-up for the committee. It was reported that Dr. Botts, Superintendent of New Bloomfield Schools, would like to discuss the upcoming Bond issue at the March meeting. It was also suggested that Rosemary Augustine report the latest developments concerning the water/sewer project at the February meeting.
Community Center Exploratory Committee
No report. Committee Chairperson Mike Cuno asked members to sign up for the committee.
Welcome
Package Volunteers
Discussion was held in regard to developing a Welcome Package Program. President West stated a chairperson and members for the committee. Mike Cuno reminded the group that Women Making A Difference indicated an interest in this and should be contacted in regard to developing this program.
Fred Case reported that a Post Office Box had been rented for the NB Civic Association. The address is PO Box 73, New Bloomfield, MO 65063.
Kim Farris has been compiling the list; however, her computer has crashed. Shelly Rackers has been assisting Kim to compile the list.
Fred Case distributed 7 examples of letterheads he had designed. After discussion the group selected Example #3. A motion was made by Leslie Wilson and seconded that Example #3 be used with modifications. Motion carried. It was suggested that a local printer be chosen to print the letterhead.
Reimbursement
for expenses
incurred
Acting President Nancy West stated that she would entertain a motion to reimburse Aaron Shaefer $25.30 for expenses incurred when the Association was started. A motion was made by Rosemary Augustine and seconded to reimbursement Aaron the $25.30. Motion carried.
Fred Case suggested the Civic Association assume responsibility for litter clean up on the section of the road that was previously the responsibility of the Optimist Club. He stated this required picking up litter along the road four times per year. A motion was made by Greg Rehagan and seconded that the association assume this task. Motion carried. A video on safety measures to adhere to while picking up the litter will be shown at the February meeting. A sign up sheet will be available for members to sign if they wish to work on this project.
Acting President Nancy West announced that the election for Association President would be at the February 23, 2006, meeting.
Acting President Nancy West stated that a request had been made to purchase the Water/Sewer address list from the City of New Bloomfield for $5.00. This list will be used for New Bloomfield Civic Association mailings. Rosemary Augustine volunteered to pay the $5.00 fee to obtain the list.
A motion was made by Fred Case and seconded to adjourn the meeting at 7:55 p.m. Motion carried.
