New Bloomfield Area Civic Association
November 10, 2005


The organizational meeting for the New Bloomfield Area Civic Association was held on Thursday, November 10, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. at Bank Star One. 

Members of the Organizational Committee attending were Mike Cuno, Aaron Shaefer, Angie Gehlert, Derina Shelton, Dawn Hubbard, Leslie Wilson and the facilitator, Gracia Backer.

The meeting was called to order at 7:03 p.m. by the Organizational Committee chair, Angie Gehlert.

Chairwoman Gehlert welcomed those in attendance and asked all present to introduce themselves and give a brief statement about themselves.

Chairwoman Gehlert appointed Dawn Hubbard as Temporary secretary and Gracia Backer as Parliamentarian for the meeting.

The next order of business was approval of the agenda as presented by Chairwoman Gehlert.  The motion for approval was made by Mike Cuno and seconded by Aaron Shaefer.  The motion carried.

Following the approved agenda, the next order of business was the adoption of the bylaws as developed by the Organizational Committee.  The motion for adoption was made by Mike Cuno and seconded by Maureen O’Rourke.  After detailed discussion and review by those present, a motion to amend the bylaws as presented was made by Aaron Schaefer and seconded by Mike Cuno.  The motion amended the date of the monthly meeting to hold it on the fourth (4th) Thursday of each month to avoid conflicting with the New Bloomfield City Council meeting.  After full discussion of the amendment, the motion carried.  The bylaws were then adopted by voice vote as amended.

Chairwoman Gehlert then called for nominations for the officers of the New Bloomfield Area Civic Association as provided for in the bylaws.

President:  Mike Cuno nominated Tom Pirmantgen for President.  The nomination was seconded by Maureen O’Rourke.  No other nominations were presented.  Tom Pirmantgen was elected by voice vote as President.

President Pirmantgen then called for nominations for the office of First Vice President.

First Vice President:  Dawn Hubbard nominated Nancy West for First Vice President.  The nomination was seconded by Mike Cuno.  No other nominations were presented.  Nancy West was elected by voice vote as First Vice President.

President Pirmantgen then called for nominations for the office of Second Vice President.

Second Vice President:  Mike Cuno nominated Kim Ferris for Second Vice President.  The nomination was seconded by Maureen O’Rourke.  No other nominations were presented.  Kim Ferris was elected by voice vote as Second Vice President.

President Pirmantgen then called for nominations for the office of Secretary. 

Secretary:  Gracia Backer nominated Jane Hurrt for Secretary.  The nomination was seconded by Mike Cuno.  No other nominations were presented.  Jane Hurrt was elected by voice vote as Secretary.

President Pirmantgen then called for nominations for the office of Treasurer.

Treasurer:  Mike Cuno nominated Fred Case for Treasurer.  The nomination was seconded by Maureen O’Rourke.  No other nominations were presented.  Fred Case was elected by voice vote as Treasurer.

NEW BUSINESS

Yearly Membership Dues Structure
A recommendation was made by members of the original organizational committee to structure the yearly membership fees as follows:
Non-business owners - $10
Business owners - $50
Affiliate not-for-profit representatives - no dues required
The above recommendation was made into a motion by Art Rice and seconded by Maureen O’Rourke.  After discussion, the motion carried.

Holiday Craft Show
It was announced that a Holiday Craft Show will be held on Sunday, December 4, 2005, at the New Bloomfield Elementary Gymnasium after the annual Christmas parade.  After discussion, it was decided that the New Bloomfield Civic Association would like to have a bake sale at the show, have a booth with a Santa to take pictures with the children and sponsor a candy cane hunt at the park.

Transfer of Knowledge Meeting Schedule
It was announced by President Pirmantgen that a transfer of knowledge meeting between the original organizational committee members and the new officers would be held on Monday, November 14, 2005, at the Providence Baptist Church meeting hall.

Announcement of Future Meeting Dates and Events
As provided in the newly amended bylaws, the monthly meetings of the New Bloomfield Area Civic Association will be held on the last Thursday of every month, with the exception of the December 2005 meeting.  A motion was made by Mike Cuno and seconded by Fred Case to move the December meeting date to Monday, December 12, 2005.  After discussion, the motion carried. 

A brief discussion was held regarding a Home and Business Show to be held in March 2006.  More information was be provided at the next monthly meeting.

Membership Comments and Discussion
Members present discussed the upcoming Christmas Parade and the association’s possible participation in the Candy Cane Hunt. 

Gracia Backer recognized members of the organizational committee and thanked them for their hard work and dedication in compiling information and details needed to formally organize the association.

In conclusion, President Pirmantgen asked those present to consider serving on the standing committees as provided in the bylaws.  Membership lists were passed to those present for sign-up opportunities.  He thanked those in attendance for their participation and urged everyone to spread the word about this organization. 

The next meeting date was announced as Monday, December 12, 2005, at Bank Star One beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A motion was made and seconded to adjourn the meeting.  The motion carried and the meeting was adjourned at 8:19 p.m.
